Chances are, your first treatment for
hepatitis C included
interferon. Natural interferon is a
protein your body makes to fight viral

about HCV and hepatitis C.
What interferons do in your body:
- Help your immune system fight viral infections
- Slow down or stop the growth of viruses
- Help stop HCV from damaging your liver.1,2
If your treatment is working, your HCV level should drop significantly after 12 weeks.
3 At the end of the treatment period it should drop so much that the HCV in your blood is undetectable. This is called achieving
viral negativity. But as many as half of the people who take interferon do not get their HCV levels to drop that low, or their HCV level comes back up after treatment.

A complete plan includes the next step: INFERGEN® (Interferon alfacon-1)
If you don't have a big drop in your HCV level after 12 weeks of therapy, it may be time for a different plan. Ask your healthcare professional about treatment with INFERGEN. It's a different kind of interferon that has shown to work in people who have taken other interferons but whose HCV levels did not drop low enough.
